Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has been remembered as a visionary leader who played a crucial role in strengthening India’s global position. Condoleezza Rice, former US Secretary of State, hailed Singh’s leadership in transforming US-India relations, particularly through the historic Civilian Nuclear Agreement 2008.
Rice, who served as Secretary of State under President George W. Bush, acknowledged Singh's efforts in securing the landmark nuclear deal, which laid the foundation for a new era in international ties. She highlighted Singh’s courage in risking his political future to ensure the agreement's success and noted its long-lasting geopolitical impact.
In a heartfelt message, Rice expressed her condolences, describing Singh as "a great man and a great leader" whose vision and determination changed the course of history. "I extend my deepest condolences to the people of India for this great loss—may he rest in eternal peace," she said.
