Russia's space aspirations suffered a setback as Roscosmos, the country's state space corporation, announced the unexpected exit of Luna 25 from the lunar race.

On Sunday, Russia’s state space corporation highlighted that it has lost its contact with Luna 25 after 14.57 pm this Saturday.

The agency somberly revealed that "The apparatus moved into an unpredictable orbit and ceased to exist as a result of a collision with the surface of the moon," marking an unforeseen end to Luna 25's mission.

This race to the moon's uncharted territory is an endeavor only a few nations have successfully undertaken, including the Soviet Union, China, the United States, and Russia itself. India, with its Chandrayaan-2 mission launched in 2019, encountered its own trials during a soft landing attempt, resulting in a compromised rover.

As Luna 25 bows out, the spotlight shifts to India's Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft, poised to make its mark on the lunar landscape. Set to touch down on the 23rd of August,

Chandrayaan-3's ambitious agenda includes deploying a rover to investigate lunar rocks and craters and capturing crucial data and imagery for transmission back to Earth. The stage is set for Chandrayaan-3 to pick up where Luna 25 left off, rekindling hopes and aspirations for lunar exploration.

Luna 25 took off on August 10, 2023, at 23:10 UTC, and its lander tragically impacted the lunar surface on August 19, 2023, at 11:57 UTC, following an unsuccessful orbital maneuver.
