A statement from the state news agency on Sunday stated that Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz will get treatment for lung inflammation at Al Salam Palace in Jeddah. The statement comes after several medical examinations that were done earlier in the day.

The royal court stated that antibiotics will be administered to the 88-year-old queen until the inflammation goes down. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's planned travel to Japan, which was supposed to start on Monday, has been postponed due to this health concern. Yoshimasa Hayashi, the chief cabinet secretary of Japan, announced the postponement at a press conference in Tokyo, claiming to have been informed of the decision by the Saudi government.

"Due to the health condition of King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed's visit to Japan, which was scheduled to begin on the 20th, has been postponed," Hayashi stated.

According to the Saudi official news agency, King Salman had medical examinations earlier on Sunday at the royal clinics at Al Salam Palace because of a fever and joint pain. As per the reports on state media during that period, the monarch was last admitted to the hospital in April for a standard examination.

The world's top oil exporter, King Salman, came to power in 2015 and is responsible for looking after the most sacred places in Islam. As U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan meets with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to establish a strategic accord between Washington and Riyadh, his health difficulties have surfaced at a crucial moment.

In response to inquiries on the Crown Prince's postponed trip, the Saudi embassy in Japan has not yet provided a response. The Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida were expected to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed from May 20 to 23.

The cancellation of the Crown Prince's visit shows just how much King Salman's health has affected the kingdom's diplomatic efforts. The themes of strategic importance discussed at the meeting between the Crown Prince and U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan show the continuous efforts to fortify Saudi-U.S. relations.

The international community is concerned about King Salman's health because of his significance in the world oil market and his position as an Islamic leader. The Crown Prince's leadership is more and more important as the kingdom negotiates these external and domestic challenges.

Saudi Arabia's geopolitical strategy is closely observed, especially with regard to its major partners. The Crown Prince's canceled trip to Japan, a crucial trading partner, emphasizes the precarious equilibrium the kingdom needs to keep between domestic health emergencies and diplomatic obligations abroad.

As King Salman's medical condition is being monitored, the Saudi official news agency has pledged to send updates. Once the King's condition stabilizes, the Crown Prince's postponed visit is anticipated to be resumed.
