Singapore to Give $500 in Grocery and Daily Expense Vouchers to All Households Starting May 13
Starting May 13, 2025, every household in Singapore will receive $500 worth of vouchers from the government to help ease the rising cost of living. These Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers can be used for groceries, meals, and essential items until December 31, 2025.
Government Steps Up to Help with Daily Living Costs
The Singapore government is launching another round of financial support for all local households. This time, they are distributing $500 in CDC vouchers to help families cope with higher prices on everyday items.
This support is part of a larger plan known as the Assurance Package, which was first introduced to soften the impact of rising inflation and taxes like the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
When and How Will Households Get the Vouchers?
All households will be able to claim their $500 in vouchers starting May 13, 2025. The vouchers will be valid until December 31, 2025.
To claim the vouchers, a household member will need to log in to the official CDC Voucher website using Singpass, Singapore’s national digital ID system. The process is quick and meant to be user-friendly.
Where Can the Vouchers Be Used?
The $500 in CDC vouchers can be split into two parts:
-
$250 for use at participating hawker stalls and local shops
-
$250 for use at major supermarkets
This setup allows families to use the vouchers for a wide range of daily needs — from meals at food centers to groceries at large stores.
Shops and stalls that accept these vouchers will display a special CDC Vouchers decal so residents know where they can spend them.
Why This Matters to Local Families
This round of support is meant to directly ease the burden on families as prices for food, transportation, and daily needs continue to rise. It also helps support small businesses and neighborhood shops by encouraging spending in the local economy.
Not the First Round of CDC Vouchers
Singapore has rolled out similar voucher schemes in the past few years, especially during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Each round has been part of ongoing efforts to protect households from rising costs and help them manage better.
The Assurance Package is funded by government reserves and is part of a multi-year effort to support middle- and lower-income families.
