Hollow Knight: Silksong – Finally, Some News!
For years, fans have clamored for updates on Hollow Knight: Silksong. The long-awaited sequel to the beloved Metroidvania finally received a much-needed spotlight (albeit a brief one) during the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. While a dedicated trailer was absent, a few precious seconds of new gameplay footage, coupled with a 2025 release window confirmation, sent ripples of excitement through the gaming community.
A Glitchy Reveal, But a Reveal Nonetheless
Ironically, the Silksong footage was revealed during a brief technical hiccup in the Nintendo Direct livestream. This technical glitch temporarily froze the visual feed on both YouTube and Twitch, causing several game reveals, including Silksong, to be almost entirely missed by live viewers. Many only caught the glimpse after reviewing the recorded broadcast. Despite this, the few seconds of footage showcased Hornet's agile combat and the game's stunning environments – enough to reignite anticipation for this highly anticipated title.
What We Know (So Far)
While Team Cherry, the developers, remain tight-lipped, Nintendo confirmed a 2025 release for the Nintendo Switch 2. This was further reinforced by updated social media presence from Team Cherry's PR lead. Silksong is also confirmed for release on other platforms including the original Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
The game promises a vast, explorable new kingdom, a new arsenal of tools and abilities for Hornet, and over 150 new enemies to face. The Steam page offers a detailed glimpse into the gameplay features, highlighting the challenging "Silk Soul Mode" for veteran players.
The Long Wait Continues… (Maybe Not For Long?)
Despite the Nintendo announcement, an exact release date remains elusive. Team Cherry's radio silence since 2019 adds to the uncertainty, leaving room for speculation about potential further delays. However, the recent news, coupled with previous ratings confirmations, suggests that release is indeed drawing closer. We're hopeful that the coming months will bring more concrete information, perhaps during Nintendo's planned Treehouse livestreams.
