The Chairman of Reliance Industries (RIL) and successful business tycoon, Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani has transferred the chairmanship of the board of directors of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. to Akash Ambani.
Akash is also a Non-executive Director of Jio Platforms Ltd. However, Mukesh Ambani will continue to be the Chairman of Jio Platforms Ltd, which owns all the Jio digital services brands.

“Akash has been closely involved with the disruptive and inclusive growth path charted by the digital services and consumer retail propositions of Reliance group and is now leading the creation of the 'convergence dividend' for over 500 million consumers, digitally and with high-inclusivity across geographies and income levels.” a senior official at Reliance Jio Infocomm said.
According to RIL officials, it was Akash who made key decisions and led Jio towards the development of new technologies and capabilities including AI-ML and blockchain in the past few years.
Also, the board of Reliance Jio has approved the appointment of Pankaj Mohan Pawar as Managing Director of the company for a period of five years with effect from 27th June 2022. The board also approved Raminder Singh Gujral and K.V. Chowdary's appointment as Independent Directors for a period of 5 years.
In the future, It is likely expected that Reliance's retail business would be handed over to Mukesh Ambani's daughter Isha, who is married to Anand Piramal.
The shares of Reliance Communications are trading at Rs. 2.30, up by 2.22%.
