Motorcycle manufacturer Hero Motocorp announced the appointment of its new CEO. The present CFO, Mr Niranjan Gupta, serving on boards of HMCL Colombia, Ather Energy and HMC MM Auto Private Limited, is said to work as a CEO from May 2023.
Mr Niranjan Gupta has over 25 years of experience in different fields, including finance, M&As, strategy and supply chain across various business sectors such as automobiles, metals and mining.

Mr Gupta graduated from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata and is a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, the Institute of Cost Accountants of India & the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Mr Gupta has spent 20 years at Unilever, where he was the Finance Head for Unilever's Modern Foods, Water and New Venture business. He also served as a Procurement Head and Finance Director for multiple heads at Unilever.
In 2014, he left Unilever to take up the role of CEO at Aluminium & Power at Vedanta Resources Plc. He served there till 2017, after which he became the CFO of Hero Motocorp.
His contribution to Hero has reportedly been immense. He played a significant role in maintaining the company's financial health over the last six years, particularly during turbulent times. He is also said to have played a key role in Hero Motocorp signing partnerships with Harley Davidson and Zero Motorcycles.
Mr Gupta will officially be elevated from his post of CFO and Head of Strategy and M&A and begin his tenure as CEO on May 1st, 2023.
At reporting time, Hero Motocorp stock trades around Rs 2,330 per share, up 1.1%.
