Delhi Police’s special cell arrested Shahnawaz alias Shafi Uzzama, a suspected ISIS terrorist who was arrested by the Delhi Police's special cell and is currently being interrogated, officials said.

As per Hindustan Times, A Engineer by Profession, Shahnawaz alias Shafi Uzzama,and other two men named Mohammad Imran Mohammad Yunus Khan, 23, and Mohammad Yunus Mohammad Yakub Saki, 24 were arrested by Kothrud Police in Pune.

The sources stated that Shanawaz had escaped from the custody of the Pune Police and was living in Delhi. He was arrested on a Sunday night and is currently under interrogation. After escaping the custody of the Pune Police he had a reward of 3 lakh on him.

It was even mentioned when on July 22,  the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) took over the probe. They learned that they had some acid stored at Bopatghat, close to Kondhwa, the agency enlisted the assistance of the Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad to confiscate the acid and a number of other chemicals that were used to construct bombs.

The ATS also seized a number of other items and discovered 500 GB of data on the accused's laptops and smartphones that linked to YouTube videos on how to make explosives and Google photos of various locations.

The agency also learned that the group had visited locations in Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara and dispatched teams to investigate their plans. After two further suspects, Aakif Ateeque Nachan and Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, were detained by the ATS in Thane district. Later this case was handed over to the NIA.

During the investigation, the NIA came to light that a foreign-based handler had possibly put Shahnawaz in touch in February, with instructions to execute a terror strike.
