There are a few selected people who can see a path in their non-age dreams, put their eyes on it, and pursue it diligently against all odds. One similar person is Ankur Warikoo, a man whose rise from impoverished beginnings to entrepreneurial success is nothing less than extraordinary.
The Dream Begins: His three-step plan
Ankur's trip started with a dream that, in light of his situation, appeared ambitious. His three-step plan included getting a Ph.D. in the US, working for NASA as a space scientist, and landing on Mars first. The fiscal difficulties of his family still oppressively circumscribe these objects. But despite their strong faith in the transformational power of education, Ankur and his family received a high-quality education from their parents. These youthful romanticists had their expedients placed on them in the hopes that they would alter the course of the family. Ankur was able to start working toward his ideal by enrolling in a prestigious university in the United States with the help of his restraint and a full education. His selflessness in 2002 led to his pursuit of a one-way trip to the US.
The Life-Altering Decision: A Turning Point in Ankur Warikoo's Journey
But Ankur's life held more surprises than just drugs. He was doing well in his Ph.D. program when he realized that, despite his aptitude for drugs, it did not make him happy. At the age of 24, he made the pivotal choice to leave his Ph.D. program and go back to India. He had no fiscal backing, savings, or plan for this choice, so his future was unknown. A new morning was made possible with an MBA program at the Indian School of Management( ISB). Ankur's life changed dramatically during this time. The time he spent at ISB served as the shaping iron that molded his new course and transferred him on a trip he'd never imagined.
Ankur's Path to Entrepreneurship: A journey of new learnings
Ankur worked as an operation adviser three times at Kearney after leaving ISB, honing his skills. Yet he was drawn to the entrepreneurial spirit. He started his first business,SecondShaadi.com, in cooperation with other ISB graduates. The successful sale of Gaadi.com to Goibibo.com in 2010 was the capstone of a string of entrepreneurial trials in the fields of buses, education, and finance that started with this company. Ankur's entrepreneurial trip continued to flourish. In 2011, he got the role of launching CEO for Groupon's India business, leading it four times. He also took on the responsibility of managing Groupon's APAC countries, demonstrating his leadership prowess.
The Birth of Mindfulness: A Journey of Discovery and Transformation
A significant metamorphosis occurred in 2015. Following the accession of the company from Groupon by Ankur and the core operation platoon of Groupon India, NearBuy was innovated with backing from Sequoia. Up until 2019, he oversaw Nearbuy as CEO, promoting the company's growth. Over these nine times that changed his life, Ankur learned more about himself and his business. He started studying consumer behavior.
Ankur Warikoo, a motivational speaker and mindfulness contender, believes mindfulness is everything and seeks to help people form opinions by enlightening them about all options.
