Violence erupts in Agra's Dayalbagh as Radha Soami Satsang Sabha clashes with police over disputed land, leaving 20 injured. Agra Police lodge FIR, tension escalates.

On Sunday Evening, The City witnessed stone pelting and chaos on the bank of River Yamuna in the City of Taj, Agra. About 20 people were left injured which included some members of Radha Saomi Sabha, Journalists, Policemen, and some other senior officials.

This took place when a large number of members of the Satsang Sabha gathered in the land of dispute. According to the Hindustan Times, the District administration watched the activities of the members of Satsang Sabha who staked their claim over the land and even took the matters to the High Court at Allahabad.

It was even mentioned that Agra Police lodged an FIR against the accused at New Agra under sections 147, 332,353,447 constituted in the Indian Penal Code

On Saturday, the administrative officials reached the gates along with the police, and the construction on the disputed area was demolished. The gates were erected later on. Things took a violent turn on Sunday when the revenue staff reached the spot. 

Women and the Elderly of the Radhasaomi sabha reached the spot and asked the officials to vacate the property. Agra Police along with PAC(Provincial Armed Constabulary) faced sabha members with no intentions to back even amid the violence with stones and canes. 

Later in the evening, Radhasaomi Sabha was asked to prove its claim on the ownership of the land within 24 hours. 

Suraj Rai, The Deputy Commissioner of Police, said, 

“ Revenue officials sought force for removing the illegal constructions raised on Chak Road in the Dayalbagh area. Police force along with the revenue department team reached the spot but the locals resorted to stone pelting and this led to injuries to policemen.”

The presidents and the vice presidents of Radhasaomi Satsang Sabha were named in the FIR. However, The Other FIR pertained to the same act on land under Mauza Jaganpur Mustaqil of Tehsil and district Agra where the office bearers and the general public faced lots of inconvenience due to the encroachments on land.
