Another global summit is going to be held this year in the Japanese City, of Hiroshima. Japan’s Current President has decided his hometown Hiroshima be the venue this year.

These meetings are held annually and attended by leaders across the globe to spark discussion about the ongoing state of affairs. Such meetings are a custom followed since 1997. The group of seven nations Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom attend and present their views. In 2022, G7 Presidency was handed over to Germany in which the topic of the ongoing invasion of Ukraine was discussed.

The G7 wants to encourage states in health, food security, and infrastructure to create tighter links in light of the rise of Global South countries, many of which were once colonies of Western powers and have varying opinions of and connections to Russia and China.
