Salary Discrepancies Based on Location

One key revelation from the leak is that Microsoft's compensation packages vary significantly based on the specific field and location of the employee. Unlike a one-size-fits-all approach, the company tailors its pay scales to account for differences in living costs. For instance, employees in high-cost-of-living areas like New York and San Francisco receive more substantial compensation packages.

The Pinnacle: Level 70

According to the leaked information, Level 70 appears to be the highest rank within the company. Employees at this level enjoy a base salary range between $231,700 and $361,500. Additionally, hiring bonuses for individuals at this rank reportedly range from $310,000 to a whopping $1.2 million. Microsoft utilizes these levels to categorize its workforce, with higher levels denoting more senior positions. The leak also disclosed that a Level 68 employee is considered a partner, while Level 63 and Level 65 are designations for senior and principal employees, respectively.

Entry-Level Compensation

At the opposite end of the spectrum, the leak revealed that the lowest-ranking employees at Microsoft receive a base salary of $42,500. Importantly, these entry-level employees are not eligible for hiring bonuses or stock awards.
