Shark Tank India is coming back in January next year, and honestly, it looks like this season's going to be totally different. Not just because it’s the third one, but mainly because they’re bringing in a whole bunch of new judges. Six, to be exact. Yep, there’s going to be a total of 12 sharks this time. That’s a lot of investors, a lot of opinions, and probably even more drama.

The announcement was made on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle last month, and ever since, fans have been buzzing. Some are excited, but others… not so much.

Meet the New Sharks Joining the Tank

This time, Shark Tank isn’t holding back. The new lineup includes some big names who’ve already made their mark in the startup world. Here's a quick look at them:

  • Ritesh Agarwal – He started off with "Oravel Stays" which later became OYO. He was just a teen when he began, and even won the Thiel Fellowship in 2013 – a grant that gave him $100,000 to pursue his business dream.

  • Varun Dua – He’s the founder and CEO of Acko Insurance. Before that, he was behind Coverfox, one of India’s first online insurance platforms. He’s been in the fintech game for a while now.

  • Deepinder Goyal – You know Zomato? He’s the guy behind it. It began as just a restaurant review site and grew into one of India’s biggest food tech companies. His team is known for sharp marketing and even meme-worthy content.

  • Azhar Iqubal – He started Inshorts, the news app most of us have on our phones. Believe it or not, it began as a simple Facebook page. Azhar dropped out of IIT Delhi to make it work — and well, it did.

  • Radhika Gupta – She’s the CEO of Edelweiss Asset Management. Radhika worked her way up in finance and today she leads one of India’s top investment firms. Her story is one of real grit and leadership.

  • Ronnie Screwvala – You might know him from the entertainment world. Ronnie founded UTV and has been a major name in Indian media. He was even listed by Time Magazine as one of the most influential people in the world back in 2009.

What the Public Thinks About Season 3

People have mixed reactions. Some are super hyped to see new faces, but others feel like the show might lose its charm. A few folks on social media mentioned that Season 1 felt more real and focused, while now it seems like everyone who sponsored the show is suddenly a judge.

Here’s what people are saying online:

  • “Only the original sharks knew how to make it entertaining and valuable.”

  • “Season 1 was TV gold. Why mess with a good thing?”

  • “This feels more like a sponsorship showcase than a startup show.”

Still, there are viewers who are excited about seeing a broader range of perspectives and maybe some fresh energy too.

Quick Recap: What is Shark Tank India All About?

In case you’re new to the show, Shark Tank India is basically the desi version of the American reality show "Shark Tank." Entrepreneurs come on the show to pitch their business ideas to a panel of investors, aka the “sharks.” If the sharks like the idea, they invest in the business.

  • Season 1 aired from December 2021 to February 2022

  • Season 2 ran from January to March 2023

  • Season 3 starts January 2025

It airs on Sony TV and SonyLIV and is known for blending business insights with real-life drama.

Conclusion

It’ll be interesting to see how this new format plays out. More sharks could mean more diverse opinions and investments… or it could make things a bit chaotic. Either way, fans are going to be watching closely. And who knows, maybe some new favorites will emerge.
