Subaru has announced a price increase for nearly all its 2025 lineup.
The price increases vary by model and trim level, but generally range from $750 to $2,055. The price changes will take effect in June of 2025 and are being blamed on "current market conditions," which most likely includes the effect of recently imposed tariffs on imported vehicles.
What is Changing?
Subaru's most popular models, including the Forester, Outback, and Ascent, face some of the largest price increases. For example, the price of the Forester will increase from $1,075 to $1,600, and the price of the Outback will rise $1,715 to $1,820. The Ascent will increase from $1,085 to $2,055 depending on the trim. Both the Impreza and Crosstrek will be $750 more, while the Legacy sedan will rise $1,600. Of note, the Solterra was not impacted by these pricing changes.
Why the Increases?
While Subaru has avoided providing a direct explanation for any of the pricing increases, the changes coincide with import tariffs levied on vehicles. Subaru imports approximately 45% of their vehicles into the U.S., meaning they are subject to the 25% tariff on imported vehicles. Tariffs and rising production costs are likely contributors to the price increases.
Effect on Buyers
For consumers, these price hikes mean that starting in June the cost of purchasing a new Subaru will be higher. For buyers looking to get a new Subaru, now is the time to take advantage of pre-hike prices. Dealers existing stock may still have the pre-hike prices reflected in it and Subaru has financing deals, including 0% APR for 72 months on select models, to entice buyers.
