Joanne Froggatt: From Downton Abbey to the Underworld
Okay, so you know Joanne Froggatt, right? Anna Bates from Downton Abbey? The woman who basically held that whole show together with her quiet strength and unwavering loyalty? Well, she was recently on The One Show, and let me tell you, it was a rollercoaster of emotions.
She talked about the upcoming Downton Abbey: A New Era, and honestly, it sounds like a proper tearjerker. It’s the final film, she confirmed – the absolute last time we’ll see the whole gang together on screen. I’m already getting choked up just thinking about it! Chatting with Gethin Jones and Alex Scott, Joanne revealed that filming the final Downton Abbey movie was incredibly emotional for everyone involved. She even dropped a HUGE hint – Anna’s pregnant! Who saw that coming?! But even with the exciting news, she admitted that saying goodbye to the Downton family, yet again, was incredibly tough. The film’s out in September, and it promises a truly fitting end to this beloved chapter of British TV. From Lady's Maid to Gangster's Wife
Joanne’s acting range is seriously impressive. In MobLand, she plays Jan Da Souza, the wife of a major player in the London underworld. This role is a world away from Anna Bates! She plays Jan as a powerful woman who stands her ground, even though her husband (played by the incredible Tom Hardy) is, well, a gangster. The interviews I've read suggest that Jan isn't intimidated by her husband's line of work. But there's a real yearning for a deeper, more emotional connection with him. You feel for her.
A Powerful Woman in a Man's World
MobLand boasts an amazing cast – Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, to name a few! And Joanne's performance is already getting rave reviews. The show shines a light on strong women navigating the dangerous world of organized crime. It’s a fresh take on the gangster genre, and Joanne’s clearly excited to be a part of it. She gets to play a complex, original female character – something we don't always see enough of.
