Goose has officially announced that percussionist Jeff Arevalo is no longer part of the band. The group shared the news on their social media, explaining that the decision was made to uphold their community’s core values.
Why Did Jeff Arevalo Leave Goose?
Arevalo had initially announced in February that he was taking a break from touring to focus on his mental health and personal issues. However, the band's recent statement suggests that his departure was not just personal but also due to behavior that did not align with their values.
The band stated, “We have been made aware of behavior in Jeff’s personal life that does not align with the band’s core values. As a result, Jeff will no longer be a part of the Goose organization.” They added that while this was an unexpected and painful change, it was the only way forward to maintain a respectful and safe environment.
Goose’s Future Without Arevalo
Since Arevalo’s departure, Goose has performed as a four-member band. The remaining members—Rick Mitarotonda, Peter Anspach, Trevor Weekz, and Cotter Ellis—have continued to perform and develop their sound. The band also collaborated with musician Stuart Bogie, who played the flute during a special improvised set.
It is still unclear if Goose will remain a quartet or bring in a new member. However, they are set to return to the stage on April 24 for a major performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see what’s next for the band as they enter this new phase. Stay tuned for more updates on Goose’s future lineup and music!
