Early Life and Education 

Born on 26 January 1983 in Muktsar, Punjab, India, Deepinder Goyal grew up in a middle-class family. Focusing more on his studies helped him to get a degree in Mathematics and Computing from IIT Delhi in 2005. Following his graduation, he embarked on a career at Bain and Company, where he worked as a Senior Associate Consultant.

The Spark of an Idea of Zomato 

 While working in an office in New Delhi, Goyal and his friend Pankaj Goel noticed the long queues of people waiting for food and the demand for menu cards among their colleagues. This observation sparked an idea in their minds to create a solution to this problem. And thus, the idea of Zomato took place.

 Initially, it was launched as Foodiebay. With time, they realized the need for a simpler and more memorable name for their venture. Thus, they rebranded it as Zomato. Starting in Delhi, they gradually expanded their operations to Mumbai and Kolkata.

International expansion and customer satisfaction

 Motivated by their success in India, Goyal, and his team decided to take Zomato's services to an international level. The company expanded its operations to various countries, including Dubai, South Africa, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, UAE, Qatar, the US, and New Zealand. This expansion facilitated the delivery of quality food and excellent customer experiences across borders.

The company's growth can be attributed to its ability to meet customer demands and consistently deliver high-quality meals. Zomato set out to prioritize customer satisfaction above all. The food delivery app goes with the tagline,  "Never have a bad meal”. Zomato's commitment to customer choice and satisfaction earned them numerous awards making their position a top player in the industry.

Achievements 

 As Zomato grew, it gets diversified by establishing additional companies which included Blinkit, Hyperpure, and Feeding India. These subsidiaries contributed to the development, further enhancing Zomato's impact on the food delivery landscape.

On 13 July 2022, Zomato celebrated its 14th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its journey.  Zomato has also achieved the award for the startup of the year 2021. From humble beginnings to a global food delivery giant, the company's evolution is a testament to Goyal's unwavering determination and vision.
