The Spark of an Idea of Zomato
While working in an office in New Delhi, Goyal and his friend Pankaj Goel noticed the long queues of people waiting for food and the demand for menu cards among their colleagues. This observation sparked an idea in their minds to create a solution to this problem. And thus, the idea of Zomato took place.
Initially, it was launched as Foodiebay. With time, they realized the need for a simpler and more memorable name for their venture. Thus, they rebranded it as Zomato. Starting in Delhi, they gradually expanded their operations to Mumbai and Kolkata.
