So let's dive into a whirlpool of information on how CEO Kalpana Morparia evolved through her life and became the powerful woman that she is today.
Paving the way through academics and career
Born on 30 May 1949, (yup! Way back then) She was done with her schooling by the age of 16. She then obtained her college education from the Sophia College for Women and by the age of 21, she was a BSc Graduate with Chemistry.
After graduation, she took up teaching. (which was at the time, the go-to job for women after having completed their bachelor's degree)
It was at this time that she began to develop some speech impediments and so she had to take a long break of over a year confined to her home.
Subsequently, she decided to pursue a law degree too, and around this time, she also got married. (Something which, even though our society is inherently patriarchal, didn't stop her in any way from pursuing her career)
It was in 1974 that she completed her law degree and joined a local law firm at no pay. (an action that in today's terminology is referred to as bagging an unpaid internship).
It was then in 1975 that she joined ICICI at their legal department. (note that at this time, ICICI bank didn't exist)
The management at ICICI recognized her capabilities and competency and so they began entrusting her with more esteemed positions. Finally, in 1991, she was sent to the USA by the company to study the American capital market.
It was at this time around when Kalpana's efforts led to the foundation of ICICI bank.
In effect, she was responsible for founding the ICICI bank. She also managed to get the bank listed on the NYSE (Newyork Stock Exchange) and merged ICICI bank with ICICI.
At present, she serves as the CEO of JP Morgan India.

Apart from being the CEO of the Indian subdivision of one of the major investment companies in the world, She also serves as the independent director of firms such as Dr. Reddy's Lab, Bennet & Colman, CMC Limited of Tata Consultancy.
She is also an active overseer of the Bharati Foundation, which is actively engaged in the construction of schools and the adoption and renewal of existing yet neglected schools.
