Hello Readers,
Did you hear?
Trump faced another assassination attempt!
Making it the second attempt in two months, former President and current Republican nominee Donald Trump has faced another assassination attempt! According to security officials, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh was waiting to shoot Trump, who was golfing at the resort, until a Secret Service agent shot at him. The man managed to escape but was caught later on. Trump announced later on that he was safe and that he would not give up on his Presidential bid. However, Ron DeSantis has expressed concerns.
The FBI isn’t cooperating in the probe!?
Governor of Florida and former Presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis has revealed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is not cooperating with the state’s investigation into Trump’s second assassination attempt! In a rare move, DeSantis had ordered state officials to conduct their independent probe into the attack, but the FBI rebuffed the officials. He expressed his concerns about the FBI’s unwillingness to include state officials in the probe. On the other hand, Trump went around making bizarre statements!
Trump is blaming Jews?
In one of his most bizarre statements, Trump has claimed that Jews would be partly responsible if he loses the elections! While speaking at the Israeli-American Council National Summit in Washington, Trump stated that Israel would cease to exist in two years if Harris won and Jews would be responsible since Jews (according to him) tend to vote for Democrats. With 7.5 million Jews in the US, appealing to them has been a priority for Trump this time. But his campaign’s in trouble!
Iran tried to weaken Trump’s campaign!
According to official statements by the FBI, Iranian hackers targeted Trump’s campaign earlier this year! They stole sensitive information from the campaign and shared it with the Biden camp! Officials claim that it was part of Iran’s bid to tamper with US elections and prevent Trump’s return to power. Trump is furious, asking for Harris’ resignation, and claiming foul. Iran has denied the allegations and Harris’ campaign is cooperating with the authorities. However, Trump has gained a new supporter.
Musk is supporting Trump!!
SpaceX & Tesla chief and billionaire Elon Musk is supporting Donald Trump for the upcoming US General elections in November 2024! Earlier this year, he admitted to giving donations to the Republican party. According to reports, the party reported that it received $289,100 from Musk in August! While Musk’s employees support Harris, Musk is clear in his support for Trump as the race for the next US President heats up.
Speaking of the US, did you know that New York City serves as a global hub for consulting?
2023 was a rough year for consulting as the number of deals tanked significantly and hundreds were fired! The Big 4 audit firms fired over 9,000 people from their US and UK offices as layoffs in the consulting landscape were the new norm.
However, that is changing. According to a study by PwC, 2024 will see a rebound in deal-making as low levels of deals have resulted in pent-up buyer demand and a buildup in seller assets. Moreover, several megadeals (transaction value of $1 billion or more) have already been announced such as Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s proposed $14bn acquisition of Juniper Networks, Blackrock’s $12.5bn proposed acquisition of Global Infrastructure Partners, Chesapeake Energy, Southwestern’s proposed $7.4 billion merger, and many more.
How will that benefit India?
With a growing economy, weaker currency, rising education, and growing skill levels among the young demographic, a larger amount of services are now being outsourced to India. Several MNCs are now setting up multiple offices in India to take advantage of lax labour laws and a smart workforce. In fact, 16 governmental ministries gave the Big Five consultancies 308 assignments worth Rs 500 crores over the last 5 years, indicating the government’s acceptance and reliance on consulting.
Moreover, the global management consulting market is set to grow at a CAGR of 10.2% to reach $811.3 billion to reach new horizons. As such, firms like KPMG, Deloitte, EY, PwC, and McKinsey are expanding their presence in the country and ramping up hiring. But are you taking advantage of it?
