Pakistan and Afghanistan have announced a ceasefire!

Pakistan and Afghanistan have reached a ceasefire after weeks of deadly border clashes that killed dozens on both sides. The agreement was brokered in Istanbul through mediation by Turkey and Qatar. Both governments agreed to halt military operations, reopen border crossings, and establish a joint monitoring committee to prevent further escalation. Islamabad demanded assurances against cross-border militant attacks, while Kabul sought the withdrawal of Pakistani troops from disputed zones. US and India have signed a new defence framework!

The United States and India have signed a new ten-year defence framework agreement, significantly deepening military and strategic cooperation. The pact emphasizes joint weapons development, intelligence sharing, technology transfer, and expanded defence-industrial collaboration. It also enhances maritime security coordination in the Indo-Pacific, aligning both nations against emerging regional threats. For India, the deal strengthens access to advanced defence technologies and co-production opportunities; for the US, it consolidates a key partnership supporting stability, deterrence, and a rules-based regional security order. US and China have finally reached a deal!

At their October 2025 meeting in Busan, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping struck a limited but symbolic accord aimed at stabilizing U.S.–China relations. The U.S. agreed to reduce tariffs on a range of Chinese imports, including cutting the fentanyl-related levy from 20% to 10% and lowering overall tariffs from roughly 57% to 47%. In return, China pledged to resume large-scale U.S. soybean purchases for three years and pause rare-earth export restrictions for one year. While tensions eased, major disputes over technology, security, and Taiwan remain unresolved. What else?

China has approved the TikTok transfer deal!

China has approved the transfer of TikTok’s U.S. operations from ByteDance to a group of American investors. The approval was confirmed by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Under the agreement, ByteDance will retain less than a 20% stake in the new U.S. entity. The move follows a U.S. law requiring TikTok’s divestment from Chinese ownership due to national security concerns. Final implementation of the transfer is expected in the coming weeks, pending regulatory and technical clearances. What else?

At the APEC summit, Xi Jinping outlined a five-point trade initiative to strengthen regional integration and sustainable growth. His plan emphasized protecting the multilateral trading system, deepening openness and cooperation, securing resilient supply and industrial chains, advancing digital and green transformation in trade, and ensuring inclusive, balanced development across the Asia-Pacific. Xi urged economies to resist protectionism, uphold fair competition, and pursue long-term stability through shared prosperity, innovation-driven progress, and sustainable development.
